MiG-29 fighter jet crash: 85 people questioned, clips capturing incident analysed

Defence officials have recorded statements from over 85 people in the past three days and collected videos of the crashed MiG-29 fighter jet near Agra captured by locals.
The video footage, along with black box data, communications with Air Traffic Control, and the pilot’s statement, will help determine if the crash was caused by human error or a technical fault.
Officials from the Directorate of Flight Safety and Air Headquarters questioned Indian Air Force Wing Commander, Manish Mishra, the pilot, who ejected himself to safety, and held discussions with Air Traffic Control personnel to single out the reason for the crash.
A senior officer revealed that a technical officer had been appointed from the Air Force headquarters to analyse the black box.
The Indian Air Force’s Directorate of Flight Safety, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Board and personnel from Adampur Air Force Station have been conducting a thorough examination of the incident.
Sources revealed that a “scene re-creation” might be planned to better understand the sequence of events leading to the crash. However, this would depend on Wing Commander Mishra’s discharge from the hospital, as such re-creations typically require the pilot’s involvement.
The MiG-29 fighter jet on Tuesday crashed into a field near Agra during a routine training sortie due to a technical glitch, Air Force and defence officials said.
